About Miss Jennifer Foreman – Literacy Tutor
I have 10+ years working in an educational setting, 4 years as the director of a Christian-based preschool, and 7 years teaching preschool. I additionally have experience working as a para-educator with special needs children, reading/math intervention, and ESL curriculum.
My primary areas of expertise when tutoring are phonics, reading, and English. I also enjoy helping students with their homework, including science, social studies, and math. I custom tailor sessions based on students’ particular needs. Teaching children to read and improve their reading skills is my passion. My goal with each child is not only to teach them the words on the page, but to teach them to love books and reading.
I incorporate reading into every tutoring session. Children who are read to regularly are more successful academically and additionally improve in the following areas:
- Listening skills
- Cognitive and language development
- Expanded vocabulary
- Attention span
- Creativity
- Life lessons
- Social and emotional development
